Gregory Konsor was born and raised in Holdingford, MN. In 2020, after working 30 years in the grain industry he retired, returned home, and wanted to further contribute to the local art, bike, food, and overall economy – so he started Art in Motion.
Art in Motion is right off the Lake Wobegon Trail. Their mission is to build unity and appreciation through incubating artists and their art, teaching creative students of all ages, hosting an open community space, and serving great food and beverages. “The artist, the appreciator, and the traveling soul are all welcome here. I want to bring a sense of art appreciation and community to Central Minnesota. I know I wasn’t meant to be an artist, but I hold immense respect for art and those who create it.”
Aside from a quiet, creative slice of heaven off the beaten path, Art in Motion is many things. “We’re an Art Exhibition, Artist Studio Cafe (with Craft Beer, Hard Ice Cream, and Deli Menu) where you’ll find music and nature alongside the Lake Wobegon Trail in the small town of Holdingford. Everyone finds their little slice of Utopia.”
Like so many, Art in Motion struggled from the impacts of COVID-19 restrictions and closures. “Running a Cafe is demanding and COVID added a lot of obstacles. Central MN is great, though; I love it. Everyone is very supportive. The word-of-mouth advertising has been awesome and we love our repeat customers and visitors.”
Konsor does a great job of partnering with other Central MN businesses, too. They have rotational craft beers from Starry Eyed Brewing from Little Falls, MN, Milk and Honey Ciders and Forrest Mushroom from St. Joseph, MN, Pantown Brewing from St. Cloud, MN, New Life Coffee and Performance Food of Rice, MN.
If you’re looking for a new experience, some quiet time, good food, scenic surroundings, or great trails, head to Art in Motion – it’s a hidden gem! You can find their summer event calendar – chock-full of events of all kinds – on their website at www.artinmotiononthelakewobegontrail.com
