Nesse Collective

Nesse Collective, on Wilson Ave, on the east side of St. Cloud, is a studio rental space built by a Photographer, for Photographers. “It’s not just a studio, it’s a space built for photographers by a photographer who knows what it’s like to start small, dream big, and need a place that feels welcoming,” shared owner Samantha Nesse. “I’ve rented plenty of beautiful studios, but I wanted one that also felt personal and supportive. This space is designed to encourage connection, community, and creativity all at once, and I think that’s what sets it apart.”

“The idea for Nesse Collective grew from years of renting other studios and always picturing how I’d design one of my own. My dad and great-grandma were both photographers, so creating this space feels like continuing that story, but also giving other photographers and creatives a place to build theirs.”

Samantha was born and raised in Central Minnesota. “I’ve always loved it here. It’s home. The people, the pace, the sense of community, it’s where I’ve built my life and my family. I’ve been so lucky to connect with other small businesses here in Central Minnesota. Lovely Little Details helped style parts of the studio and our Christmas setups, Green Thumb has provided floral for our events, and I’ve collaborated with local artists and makers for giveaways and grab bags. I love finding ways to cross-promote and lift each other up, that’s what makes our East End creative community so special.”

“Photography is my full-time work, but it’s also something I truly love doing. The studio is an extension of that; it provides me with space to continue creating while helping other photographers do the same. I decided to go all in because it felt right for my family and for the kind of life I want to build. It lets me work creatively while still being present as a mom, which means everything to me,” explained Samantha.

“The most exciting part of getting Nesse Collective off the ground has been seeing people use the studio in ways I dreamed about … watching other photographers create, connect, and grow here has been amazing. I love seeing how each person brings the space to life in their own way. It makes all the hard work worth it every single time. I love seeing the work other photographers have done here!”

“The most challenging part of my new venture has been juggling all the little details that come with running both a photography business and a studio space. There’s always something new to learn, from maintenance to scheduling, to making sure everything runs smoothly for renters. It can feel like a lot some days, but seeing the space full of life and creativity always reminds me why it’s worth it.”

“I want people to know how grateful I am for this community and for everyone who’s supported the studio from the very beginning. The Nesse Collective was built on a big dream and a lot of hard work, but also from the encouragement of people right here in Central Minnesota. My hope is that this space continues to grow into something that helps others chase their own creative goals, too. Whether you come for a session, an event, or just to connect, you’re part of what makes it special.”

“Being part of this community has been such a gift, especially fellow businesses on the east side,” continued Samantha. “There’s this genuine sense of connection here; people genuinely want to see each other succeed. Other business owners have been so supportive and welcoming, and it feels like everyone is rooting for one another. I love that I can build something meaningful while being surrounded by people who care about community just as much as I do.”

“The best way to support what I’m doing is honestly just by being part of it, visiting the studio, attending events, renting the space, or even following along on Facebook and Instagram – and sharing with friends. Every little bit helps keep the creative energy growing here, and I’m so grateful for that.”
