Connor Steen grew up in Holdingford, and shortly after his graduation from St. Cloud State University in 2011, he became a Realtor. Then, in 2016, he started Unique Movers in Sauk Rapids. In March 2025, he purchased and reopened the Stihl Wolf Bar in downtown St. Cloud.
“I grew up in Central MN and have stayed because I, fortunately, have other businesses in the area that continue to grow, thanks to the community here. In March 2025, I decided to take over Stihl Wolf bar and give it a facelift. I actually inquired about it through the purchase of some real estate. I always wanted a piece of real estate downtown St.Cloud; I also wanted to be the owner of a bar that would solely focus on specialty cocktails and drinks. Also, I wanted to help bring out a nightlife downtown that it seemed like St.Cloud was slowly losing at that time.”
Stihl Wolf bar originally opened in their space on St. Germain Street in 2021. They closed in early 2025, and the bar was up for sale. After purchasing the bar and completing some renovations and updates, they reopened and have given a new breath to nightlife and the ‘bar scene’ of downtown St. Cloud. As part of their re-opening, they debuted a menu with delicious seasonal cocktails, in addition to the staples you’d expect from a bar. In addition to great drinks and great service, they host cribbage nights, BINGO nights, trivia nights, bands, DJs, and special guests.
“I keep busy with real estate, and Unique Movers is my full-time gig, but my goal is to get the bar running successfully and let the great staff manage it with the expectations we’ve set. The whole process of owning Stihl Wolf has been fun for me; creating a new space, learning a lot along the way, and meeting so many people. I enjoy being well-connected in the community, not just because of the other business I have here, but because it’s just who I am as a person.”
“There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes when you’re revamping or opening a business. Things like taxes, permits… that kind of stuff goes unseen. I’ve had great support and resources along the way. Let’s all support each other!”
Being a business owner in the Greater St. Cloud community was a natural fit and no-brainer for Connor. “I love supporting local, I hope that we can use each other as a resource, and all be successful along the way. It takes the community to keep places like this open; we couldn’t do it without support – that’s what we rely on. Success means the entire community coming out and making an effort to revitalize and regrow downtown St. Cloud. I’d love to see it get back to the lively, entertaining space we all used to talk about.”
“We’re thrilled with where we’re at. It means a lot to have continued support for all my crazy ideas and businesses – I really appreciate it. Let’s all support one another! Hope to see you at Stihl Wolf soon.”
