Pantown Brewing Company

Pantown Brewing resulted from a love of rugby, a passion for craft beer, and a fortuitous change in a real estate career. Marty Czech, Co-owner of Pantown Brewing Company, came to St. Cloud in 1996 from Milwaukee WI, to get an education at SCSU. “In 1998 I discovered the St. Cloud State Rugby Club. Around the same time, I got a home brewing kit from my parents for Christmas and started to discover a whole new world of beer. Around 1999 or 2000 my younger sister got a job serving at O'Hara Brothers. One of the first craft brew pubs in Minnesota. She bought me a mug club membership for my birthday one year. I suddenly had a new way to enjoy craft beer.” 

While working in his primary day job as a Realtor, Marty met Noel Johnson - Founder of Pantown Brewing. Soon after moving his real estate license to Noel’s company (Premier Real Estate), Noel asked him to join him in the craft beer venture that has become Pantown Brewing Company. And to bring things full circle, Pantown Brewing Company uses the brewing equipment from the former O’Hara’s Brew Pub. Now that’s what we call stars aligning.

Pantown, named for the history of Samual Pandolfo and the Pan Cars produced in the area from 1917-1919, is the inspiration for the innovative spirit the brewery maintains. “We try very hard to be different and add to the craft beer community by combining new ingredients, new processes, and new events into a total package,” shared Czech.

Paying homage to the Pantown name isn’t the only way they’re embedded in our community. The list of local charities and partners Pantown Brewing works with is mighty impressive. “My favorite part of Pantown Brewing is the opportunities it has given me to partner with other local businesses. We have partnered with Jules' Bistro, Custom Catering, Christine's Sweet Confections, Redhead Creamery, Food Dudes, House of Pizza, Bravo Burritos - and probably others - for food and treats in the taproom. We've worked with local charities on fundraising events like Tanner's Team, The Crisis Nursery, Anna Marie's Alliance, CentraCare’s Holly Ball, Real Men Wear Pink, and LEAF 742. We sell beer to tons of local bars and restaurants like MC's Dugout, The White Horse, Jimmy's, Danny's Dugout, House of Pizza, Blue Line, Jules Bistro, The Middy, Upper Deck, Blackberry Ridge, Partner's Pub, G Allen's, The Green Mill, and many more … We love when you ask your server if they have Pantown Beer! A new event for us this year is a collaboration with St. Mary’s Cathedral. We worked with Fr. Scott and several members of the beverage committee to brew a new Hazy IPA that we’ll be selling at the St. Mary’sBlock Party on September 9th.” 

And if great beer and great people aren’t enough - they have a great patio, too. “We might have the best patio around. We’re a block or more away from a busy road, have the wetland directly to the south, and all the plants and shaded seating we need – it’s pretty phenomenal.” Stop by, see the patio for yourself, try one of their great beers, and enjoy!
